Daily Inspiration: “Adventure isn’t about risk or thrill seeking or proving your mettle. It’s about going for something with all of your heart.”-unknown

Beauty Tip: Russian Hair Treatment Pack
This is better than a simple hot oil treatment. It leaves the hair looking stunningly-thick, luxuriant, and shiny. The effects last a long time, even the light scent of the essential oil will linger through several shampoos.
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 tbls oil (safflower, almond, coconut, or walnut
1 drop essential oil (lemon, tangerine, jasmine, rose,
sandalwood, rosemary)
Before applying, moisten the hair very slightly by running wet fingers through it, then massage the egg mixture into hair and scalp. Wrap head in a towel (and plastic if desired) and sit back in a sauna, take a long hot bath, or relax in a warm place. (The heat of a sauna is the best environment for this treatment.) Leave the pack on for one hour, if possible, even two or three!
To cleanse, rinse hair in warm water, then apply a lot of shampoo directly to the hair, wash well, and rinse. If you've used enough shampoo, only one wash is needed.

September 8th, 2005
Daily Inspiration: “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world… as in being able to remake ourselves.”-Gandhi

Beauty Tip: Strawberries and Cream Astringent
For oily or blemished skin.
1 handful strawberries
1 heaping tablespoon heavy cream
Mash strawberries by hand or in a blender. Add heavy cream and mix well. Spread thickly on face and neck (a shaving brush is handy for this) and let your skin benefit for 10 minutes. Tissue off, then splash face and neck with cool water.

Friday September 9th, 2005
Daily Inspiration: “Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness.”-Seneca

Hair Coloring Tip: Marigold Hair Color
For red lights in blonde or brown hair.
1/3 cup crushed marigold flowers
2 1/2 cups water
Simmer flowers in water in a nonmetal pot for 20 minutes. Remove from heat; strain when cool, saving the liquid. After washing hair, apply the marigold decoction as a final rinse, pouring it over the hair and catching it in a basin to reapply several times. (Red wine may be added to the liquid to intensify the effect.) Allow hair to dry naturally in the sun, if possible. Repeat the rinsing process with subsequent shampoos until you achieve the desired shade.

Saturday September 10th, 2005
Daily Inspiration: "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going."-Jim Ryan

Beauty Tip: Rose Body Lotion
3/4 cup unscented body lotion
10 drops rose essential oil
Decorative screw-top bottle
Mix the body lotion and rose oil together thoroughly and pour into a decorative bottle.
